Based on some advice SGT Marquez was given the day I was made the Section leader when the BC fired our SSG Section leader while in the field. Said advice came from General Waller at the time the 8th IN DIV CDR, Germany. The quote above was a combination of what i was told.

I likey quotes short. My Battalion Commander at my last unit always said, "Leadership is relationships." He always demonstrated that by talking to every single person with genuine interest, asking about their family, and actually remembering all their names.

It isn't exactly a leadership quote but it has served me well for many years. When I was young my Grandfather always told us "if you don't have time to do it right the first time, when are you going to have time to do it again". And then there is "everyone is good for something, even if it's a bad example".
