Have a funny interpretation or application of Army Regulations?

(I'm sure that not every regulatory base is covered in the ocean of wild possibilities within our ranks.)

The reason you can put your hands in your buddy's pockets, comes from military training for freezing conditions in the field. You can also aid a soldier by putting his hands in your crouch because of the amount of warmth generated. It sounds pretty petty, but when your buddy is getting frostbite and he can't handle a weapon or pull a trigger, doing this preventative measure is pretty important for the health and welfare of the soldier effected. Basic Training knowledge here!

If the services don’t want you to put your hands in your pockets, they should procure and issue pants without pockets.

Working on the Fight Deck, hands in pockets were not a problem. To prevent possible FOD issues the pockets were sewn closed.

Some of you have the personality of a rock. This was all in good fun. Not an NCOES class or something. Loosen up a bit. It's the internet. It won't kill you.

According to AR 670-1...
Only females can wear a black, unmarked (logo-free) purse in uniform. But it doesn't say I (male Soldier) can't walk around post with a bright fuchsia clutch in my hand while in uniform.

If my hands are cold, it doesn't say where else I CAN'T put my hands to warm them up (as long as it doesn't involve contact with someone else).

I don't know what the guy did to deserve the honor, but I once saw a male soldier required to carry a bright plastic purse dangling from the barrel of his weapon... for a whole day. I never did ask him if he'd lost a bet or if he'd just gotten some creative punishment for something. He took a shine too it, acted like Klinger and everybody got a good laugh out of the deal.
