While stationed with the 230th at Vogelweh/Kaiserslautern, I decided to order a few circle-star badges from a guy in NE who made custom badges.
One of our LTs was about to ETS and saw mine and just had to have one, to remind him that not everyone had the big green machine mentality. He said it would remind him that there were some of us serving who had a sense of humor at all times, and it would serve as a reminder of some of the good things and good people he came in contact with. Those of us who had them wore them on our civies and got sideways glances by folks who were curious but didn't want to stare. Fun way to advertise that we were MPs, since they quit issuing the MP shield.

When I was home on leave, I had my mom make me a couple of MP brassards to take back to FRG. I sold one to a roommate and used the other until I left, then sold it to another MP there at the Co. All my "road gear" belonged to the US, except for my hinge handcuffs and a thumbcuff I got for small-wrist miscreants who could slip out of regular cuffs.

I still have the brassard I was wearing in my posted picture. I also have my mag lite (long since inop, but I keep it anyway) and a few other items...wink...

That's very cool, Ken. I still have my MP helmet liner, 2 yearbooks , and a few MP shields. My ex sold off all of my gear and uniforms without my knowledge. :(
