<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Having both email and phone numbers available on the Army HRC website is helpful if a soldier has a question or personal requests but at the same time it feels like a trap. The number one priority is for HRC to fill the needs of the Army. So how do you write a proper email to communicate effectively without getting short, vague and unhelpful responses? Any examples of phone introductions or email formatting is much appreciated. Maybe it's because I'm a naive and junior enlisted but contacting one of these resources gives me nightmares about them sending me to Fort Polk!<br /><br />**My current situation**<br />I've been in the Army for four years and I am currently in AIT for a secondary MOS. It is a month out before I graduate and I am the last one in my class that does not have orders (was supposed to get an assignment 3 months ago.) My NCO told me that the reason I don't have orders is because HRC is not tracking that I reclassed. He says we are still trying to contact them but the future is unclear and you may not PCS at the max. of 90 days to get this resolved. This blows my mind at how hrc is not tracking because I had 6 months of AIT Phase one in one location and I'm in my 2nd phase now 5 months later in a different state. Would it be advisable to contact HRC to get some clarity and see if there's anything I can do to save time becoming a holdover? Should I call or email? <br />Thank you for helping.Mon, 09 Jul 2018 15:18:55 -0400Do you have any tips or advice on how to communicate properly with HRC or a Branch Manager via email or telephone?

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Email is preferred, branch managers are extremely busy with personnel actions, but they will reply to emails.SGM Private RallyPoint MemberMon, 09 Jul 2018 15:41:36 -04002018-07-09T15:41:36-04:00Response by CW2 Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 9 at 2018 4:18 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Definitely send an email ASAP. Type it up, and have someone you trust proof read for errors. Be tactful and thank them for their time and request a read receipt. Keep it short and simple and express the importance for hearing something back. Make sure you have a signature block with all your contact information. If you don't hear back in a day or two, then follow up with another email and phone call. Before calling, make sure you have your ducks in a row. Write down exactly what message you want to get across and refrain from going into too many minor details while on the phone. BLUF and again TACFTUL. Pretty much they just need to know that you are towards the end of your training and you do not have an assignment yet. Let them know that you are afraid that you might not be tracked and you want to help fix any issues so you can be an asset to the force.CW2 Private RallyPoint MemberMon, 09 Jul 2018 16:18:58 -04002018-07-09T16:18:58-04:00Response by CSM Darieus ZaGara made Jul 9 at 2018 5:03 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I would first call and follow it up with an email. There is no trap. Professionally lay out your status regarding a follow on assignment. I would not mention anything your NCO stated regarding his speculation as it relates to HRC not knowing your status. Simply put, I am in phase two and will be complete on x date and was wondering what my next assignment would be. Thank you for your service.CSM Darieus ZaGaraMon, 09 Jul 2018 17:03:09 -04002018-07-09T17:03:09-04:00Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 10 at 2018 12:45 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I would call the branch manager for your new MOS branch. they should be able to help you once you explain to them your situation.SSG Private RallyPoint MemberTue, 10 Jul 2018 00:45:52 -04002018-07-10T00:45:52-04:00Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 11 at 2018 2:02 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Be open and honest with your branch manger. They want to help you but your first choice may not always be available. Go into the conversation with at least three choices not just one. The more open you are to accepting an assignment the better you will be. There really are no bad assignments, well maybe Ft Polk. I would call first and then follow up with an email. It is your CAREER so take charge of it.SFC Private RallyPoint MemberWed, 11 Jul 2018 02:02:58 -04002018-07-11T02:02:58-04:00Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 7 at 2019 6:52 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Well first and foremost, don't contact them unless necessary. Orders are a must, and your career is absolutely reason enough to contact them. When you have to contact your BM, make sure to give them the entire scope of the situation, be thorough but stay on topic. They need the information to accurately assist you.<br /><br />Type up an email, Let your First Line and S1/Oroom (if necessary) know what you need from Branch. CC your S1/ORoom and First Line Supervisor so they can be in the loop, First Line for obvious reason, S1 so if there's paperwork that's necessary, they'll be tracking it right off the bat.<br /><br />Be respectful, be to the point, and make sure you be accurate in the info your pushing out to them, so they can take care of you properly.SPC Private RallyPoint MemberThu, 07 Feb 2019 18:52:09 -05002019-02-07T18:52:09-05:002018-07-09T15:18:55-04:00
