Do you have any tips or tricks to make the process of branch transferring to MI a little less painful?

Hello RallyPoint! I’m a MS officer looking to transfer to MI after having been in a “will train” position while enlisted. I know the steps of calling branch and getting BC approval as well as finding a new unit with a paragraph and line, but wanted advice from someone who had recently done it.

Do you have any tips or tricks to make this a process that is a little less painful?

Generally speaking, it's not too difficult to branch transfer if you are a junior pre-CCC officer. You need to complete MICCC to become branch qualified and DMOSQ, then complete a 4187 to HRC to have your PMOS changed to 35A.

If you were a direct appointment to AMEDD, (no OCS or ROTC), you might have to apply for a new appointment as a 35D, as opposed to a branch transfer.

From AMEDD to another branch is not easy at all as we are direct commissioned into the branch, most of the time from what I have seen is that you need to get a new appointment which SGM Private RallyPoint Member has stated.

The only person that can help answer your question would be our branch manager in AMEDD.

Are you thinking of going to a different branch because you have different interests and AMEDD can't fulfill it?

There are a lot of benefits in AMEDD when it comes to career growth but like many other things it also has its cons. And branch transfer is one of them ;)
