Do you have to be Airborne qualified to be stationed in Italy as a Soldier?

Do you have to be airborne qualified to be stationed in Italy as a soldier? Say you were supply but haven’t gone to airborne school. Can you still get orders there? I can’t seem to find this information anywhere.

No.... But yes. There are a few non airborne slots there, but they are very few, most of them are in joint units. There's an MI unit there as well that I think is non airborne. But the majority of Soldiers in Italy are in the 173rd and it's an Airborne unit. So if you wanted to request Italy and you weren't Airborne, it would be very difficult to get.

Are you still in the Corps or transferred to the Army? If you are in the Army it will be very hard to find a slot because the 173rd is an airborne division. One of my old Gunnery sergeants back in 2001 was stationed in Italy I believe at a naval base his wife was from Italy he said he loved it. But I don't know to much about the bases or units the corps would have attached over in Italy.

You don’t have to be airborne qualified but it is harder if you’re not. They only have minimal positions and MOSs for non-airborne. I have a couple of friends in Italy now that are not airborne. I suggest Once you’re back on active duty to contact your branch manager to see if they can assist with you receiving assignment instructions to Italy. Good luck to you...

There is an Airborne unit in Vicenza Italy, but there is no requirements to be airborne qualified just to be stationed in Italy
