Does having other dependents aside from the spouse make a difference in being able to keep the same house? Do you have to move out of on-post housing following a divorce? 2021-08-17T10:22:14-04:00 SSG Private RallyPoint Member 7190097

What happens after you get divorced and live in military housing…will you lose the house? However, I am answering with almost 20 years worth of old information. Contact your housing office for a definitive answer. If you don't have dependents living with you that is a very expensive living arrangement. You lose all your BAH to housing and you still have other dependents to support. Most SSGs I know get roommates and pocket the extra BAH.

But as everyone else pointed out, unless you have primary physical custody, you don't need or qualify for family housing. I'd check with housing and see what the local policies are. A lot of private houses are up for rent, even to civilians. Owners miss underestimated need, over built and now offers to any and all. SJAFB is like that.
