SGT Mark Stevens 848913 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Since the VA has switched to this new way of handeling travel pay rebembursment in January of this year, I have not seen any of mine make it into my bank account. I hear stories of people not getting it until months after it was submitted. Although, the biggest complaint I have heard is, no one can seem to figure out which travel pay they do receive matches up with the slip they submitted. <br />What are your thoughts on this? Do you have trouble collecting travel pay? 2015-07-28T01:47:25-04:00 SGT Mark Stevens 848913 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Since the VA has switched to this new way of handeling travel pay rebembursment in January of this year, I have not seen any of mine make it into my bank account. It may have taken some time but as long as the paperwork was done correctly I was paid within a reasonable time frame. This is a blatant violation of the law and is extremely discriminatory as the round trip from my home to the Ptld. VA hospital is about 300 miles. Vets that live much closer are not burdened with the high cost of gasoline or diesel fuel. I was told outright by the travel reimbursement Ptld. VA employee who is/was in charge of the travel reimbursement program that I was wasting my time and money for postage to send the requests to him because the law that exists requiring the VA to pay us for travel miles was never meant to reimburse us for our travel costs. He exact words were &quot;you will never get a penny as long as I am in control of this program&quot;. The closest VA clinic is in Bend, Oregon which is about 80 miles round trip from my home. As is often the case this VA employee believes that he is more powerful than the US government that passed the laws regarding travel reimbursement.
