Hey,after they conquered a territory they asimulated that society into their own without taking their culture away. Thus profiting from all of the natural resources from the conquered territory and keeping them in check.maybe we should have done this with our recent mistake of invading Iraq? It is so WWII, Investing Billions of dollars into foreign governments that we don't control and will not put the military force on the ground to govern. Civilians then tell us we lost when the rules are changed to say, we win only if the government we don't control is successful...it's BullCrap.
Nation building can work if you invest multiple generations and keep a large force, this is the long war.
We need to decide that we will not nation build and use the military for aggressive force (destroy the enemy in place, no rebuilding) or deterrent force (investing with a host national country).
We should no longer invest our forces in another countries civil war.
