Do you maintain your Ranger tab when you commission to officer?

If I had a ranger tab as enlisted, got out for a period of time, then came back in as a commissioned officer, would I still maintain my ranger tab or would I have to go back to ranger school?

But be careful. You lose it if you salute a 1LT when you are a 2LT. And lots of people will try and trick you by saying stuff like "a 1LT is a senior officer" or "it's in the reg" but don't fall for it. ;)

That was my original thought, however I met an O3 today that said he was enlisted infantry in regiment during his first term, then got out, came back and commissioned. He presented it in a way to "demand respect" however he did not have a Ranger tab or a deployment Scroll. and also did not maintain the presents that I know others to established. What little I know of regiment, you don't stick around very long with out proving yourself.

If the Tab is in your records, then you are tabbed- pure and simple.

That tab is yours to wear proudly, you earned it in a school where all students were treated equally, no matter if they were enlisted or officer. If anything, it may mean more, getting it as an enlisted soldier than an officer.
