Looking for the most innovative non-surgical and innovative possibilities PTSD/TBI.
Mike my Ch 46 helo lost control and crashed into my aircraft on the USS Saipan. The blades on my CH 53 were folded and the APU was running. We were waiting to get a landing gear strut serviced. The 46 apparently encountered diverging oscillations due to excessive torque. The aircraft took off from the spot behind us, pitched up about 30 deg, then rolled past 45 deg angle of bank and went nose down. As I sat in the #2 pilot seat, I heard the odd blade noise and looked out my side window. As I looked the 46 cockpit collided with my cockpit at my left hip. The rotor blades hit above my head and tore off the #2 engine. I had eye contact with the pilot and crew chief as they impacted my cockpit. My aircraft had explosions and was engulfed in flames. As I departed the cockpit, I checked the cabin for injured personnel. I had 2 crewmembers in the cabin and a hydraulicsman from the 46 squadron. All three had gotten out and I ran across to the island ramp and found all 3 men. The last time I saw the other pilot was at my side window and I assumed he didn’t make it. All 3 men were shaking and unsteady but were not bleeding and were able to walk... How long has the program been in existence? There are many well-intending mental health people and facilities who are well learned with the exception of being a professional listener. The health industry is about diagnosis rather than cure in many instances especially when it comes to mental health still running on a playbook from 50 years ago.
Many mental health issues and especially those dealing with trauma go well beyond the door A, B or C and are not a one-size fits all cure. On the individual side, they have to like, believe and trust before progress can be made but they also have to be 'sick and tired of being sick and tired.' Fortunately, there are some places that realize that each individual is different and beyond the doors of a,b and c and I hope this program is one of them for those in need.
