Do you often wear things in public to signify your military service/affiliation?

I often wear shirts, baseball hats, my Marine cover, etc., to let others know of my service. I do this to meet other Marines, more so than being recognized by civilians.

When it's a little warmer (come on spring!), Cpl Anthony Pearson, I almost always wear an Army baseball cap. And I do have T-shirts and jackets with military stuff on them. I still work on an Army base, so I fit right in (I think) with those items. Plus, I really do consider myself a Soldier for life, and wearing my baseball cap is my little way of reminding myself and the rest of the world that that's my deal.

I do sometimes wear an OIF Vet hat my kids gave me (more bc my kids gave it to me than it's OIF). But I do have some combat medic tees I love to wear when it's warmer.

Generally speaking no.

When I worked in an office, and had to carry a badge, I wore a USMC lanyard. When I wear a tie, I have a USMC tietack. I have some nice cufflinks, and a lapel pin as well.

I'm not opposed to a ball cap, but I don't want anything gaudy if that makes sense. I tend to dress rather conservative overall.

When I do races, I LOVE wearing my Marine Corps Marathon event items.

It is a good time to be alive in that respect. Where disdain for veterans was largely a thing of the past. As far as someone having a thing about it, like pissing off ISIS or Islamic Militants. I have a digit for those on both hands if those individuals would like to see them.

When I first got back in, I wore things fairly often. After getting a job that was more professional than a city college campus, I decided that I needed to move on. The two styles didn't mesh well and I had to go with the one that signified a new part of my life moving forward.

Don't get me wrong, you may catch me with my watch cap on in the cold, or my assault pack when I am packing heavy, but in general, I leave the gear in the duffle.

Since I retired, I have attempted to civilianize myself. Not because I am not proud of my service, but because I want to move on, live in the present. Sometimes it is sad to see a veteran who can't let go. I'm sure you know someone like that. I also don't want to "shove it in people's faces", if you know what I mean. Sometimes civilians are threatened by service members and veterans. I think most everyone knows you are a veteran anyway. My wife and kids say things like, "you can't hide it, it is so obvious, would you relax, just the way you walk gives it away, you have that army face on again."

I have a hooded Army sweartshirt that is my favorite, I wear that one a lot when it's chilly. I also love wearing my old gray PT t-shirts occasionally when I'm out playing with the kids or playing pick up soccer or whatnot. The old PT shirts are just so damned comfortable. It is certainly not for a lack of pride, I simply don't like all the questions I get if I wear something military related. People are naturally curious and start asking questions that usually turn into drawn out conversations when I'm looking to hide from the crowd in the first place.

I don't because I get tired of all the same old civilian questions like, "Did you go to Iraq?" Or "Did you kill anyone?" And then "Do you have PTSD?". Seriously people it gets old. I went to Afghanistan, no I didn't kill anyone, and no I don't have PTSD. But, you sure as hell shouldn't ask a vet that does those questions.

I spoke with a retired vet recently who spoke about the importance of having something, anything, on our person at all times in public to signify our service. Subtle is fine. He felt it was a way to know, immediately, without a doubt, that if shit went down, if you needed help, a fellow veteran would be a trust-worthy person to make contact with. Not only that, but also someone to buy a beer for, strike up a quick conversation, or simply nod your head in silent appreciation.

It made sense to me.

I know that when I'm out in public, I am very aware of people who look military. I absolutely look for tell-tale signs, including service 'bling'. It is a comfort knowing that I am not alone in this world. My brothers and sisters are out there.

I know it sounds corny at times, but that's ok. I'll put it out "there" anyway.

When it's cool outside I'll sometimes wear my Army PT jacket. On hot days I'll sometimes wear my Army PT shirt. There have been times when people ask me if I ever served in the Military and at the time I would have no visible indications of Military service showing. People sometimes say that I just look like someone who was in the Military. There are certain mannerisms that will always show in a Military Veteran.

The only thing I wear is the U.S. Army Retired cap, I wear it with pride and enjoy meeting men and women who are serving or have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. I still have my military clothing, but don't desire to wear any material in public, there is no need for me to wear anything part of my uniform after military service. I'm saving it for my grandchildren, I see a lot of people misrepresenting the uniform especially those who never served.

I have one dress jacket (I'm retired) and on it I wear a lapel pin from my Bronze Star. It's started many an interesting conversation.

Sometimes when I go out in the sun (again rarely, I'm old and retired), I wear a hat with a small pin fashioned like an Army officer's dress hat device (you know, the eagle).

Once each month I wear my garrison cap to the VFW meeting and a VFW baseball cap when engaging in a VFW activity such as a VA hospital visit.

Yes, I am almost always in a baseball cap that IDs my AF service or my Army retirement.

However, note that one does not need to do so to be recognized when still serving. I often tell my spouse "That is a military person" She wonder how I know. Well, when we see them walking to their car we see a base sticker on the window.

How do I know? Well, even I can't say. But the military bearing is there and shines through.

I think I could easily take the question the wrong way, so I'm going to frame my answer.
If I were a biker, I'd tend to wear biker clothing/accessories. Hunter, Cyclist, Football fan , etc., etc.

The last couple billets I served in involved direct interface with the United States public, so "brand recognition" and "telling the Marine Corps story" were paramount to mission success. One of the best ways to do that -- catch the eye of other current/former Marines or the family/friends of a Marine and start a conversation with the Marine Corps as the focus -- was (and still is) to wear some sort of Marine Corps paraphernalia.

Maybe just a little? Women veterans are often 'overlooked', even at the VA, so I have several caps, visors, & t-shirts to share my veteran status. I also have a DAV denim shirt, some embroidered polo shirts, & custom accessories. Even my mobility scooter is decked out!

I wanted something to wear at powwows for Veterans Dances, so I used my old uniforms to create a Cherokee Tear Dress, it received very favorable comments. As a Desert Storm vet, I used the colors from the SWA Medal as my 'ribbon work' on the dress.

I hardly ever wear anything to signal my military service. I don't do it because I am ashamed, and I am actually very proud to have served. I am even prouder to be an infantryman! I am also a member of the Golden Key Honor Society, Free Masons of Illinois, and a few other groups. I don't wear anything that shows my membership to those either. The only thing I have that shows I was an infantryman is a sticker that goes across the rear window of my Charger "INFANTRY"

I don't go out of my way to do it but if I'm working out and the top t-shirt is a pt shirt, it's getting worn. Old unit shirts are in the mix as well. During winter it's a bit different. I don't really own winter gear, I joined in Florida and came back, so for the three days it gets below seventy I will dig out my field jackets.
I do have some military caps, I sort of collect them, usually with the names of installations I visited, but those wouldn't identify my branch, I don't discriminate. Ft Sam, kings bay naval, Patrick AFB, etc. Don't have any from the marines though....

Because I am still active in the State Guard I do not do anything that would draw attention to my service when in civilian clothes. I used to have Retired Military on my back window but have removed it for now.

I once and a while, but most days no. I do have ranger tab sticker, and three combat patch stickers on the back of my truck. I have a small campaign ribbon sticker on my motorcycle helmets, and I motorcycle license plate is "RGR MP" None of my vehicle plates are Military, DV, etc....

I wear a small silver Paratrooper ring that means the world to me. When I am out walking, hiking I have a khaki ball cap with OEF Vet and Airborne wings/American flag on it. Of course my plate are Disabled Vet.

I rarely wear items that identify me as military when I am not on duty. Mainly because I feel uncomfortable with the praise that our non-military population continue to shower upon us. I think it is great that our military members are receiving these thanks, however, I prefer to serve my country without the need for constant accolades. It is for this reason, and not that I am not proud, that I do not wear items that identify me as military.

A lesser reason that I don't wear these items is the growing terrorist threat that is always around us.

Since retiring last year, the only thing I wear to signify my prior service is my US Army Retired hat. This is my second one since my first one was chewed up by my dog. I will never wear any part of my military uniform in public regardless of what it is although I will occasionally wear my fleece jacket or hat at home when it's cold.

Like Cpl Pearson, I wear the hat not only as a symbol of my service but also as a potential ice-breaker with fellow service-member, whether active, retired or veteran.

Once a Marine, always a Marine. To some extent, certain units in the other branches inspire a similar ethos and the other branches would do better to spend more time teaching that to ALL their folks such that those observing their members would be able to notice their discipline, integrity and purpose and suspect their military background -- in the same way that one should not have to tell others they are a Christian; it should be evidenced in their actions.

I don't wear USMC clothes to let others know I was military, and I don't go around telling everyone what my MOS was or what my rank was. Being a Marine is part of who I am, but it's not how I define myself. When you retire, it's time to look forward to the next chapter in your life. You don't want to be stuck living in the past -- like the High School quarterback that never progressed beyond the glory days of high school football, and still sees everything as to how it relates to the gridiron. It's a bigger world out there.

I'd wear a Retired Marine baseball cap if I had one, and I would wear it for the same reason Cpl Anthony Pearson stated. There's nothing pretentious about that. You're wearing it to identify yourself to other veterans, and not to impress those who never served. But that isn't my top priority right now. Am building a house and have other uses for the $15 the ones in town sell for.

For a many, many years no one where I live here new I was in the military except for family and anyone close to me. Until about 3-4 yrs ago. Now I wear sweatshirt I bought that is supposed to help veterans out. It says God took the strongest women and made them veterans on it. They are made in U.S. and very warm, I do hope the money goes to help because I want to buy a few more things from them. But when I work in the yard I wear some things.

Doing my 20 is my proudest achievement and I wear T-Shirts and I have a company that makes and embroiders my hats. Old school stand up front with my Air Assault Wings and 101st Airborne. Kind of a minority be because I retired right outside Cherry Point Marine Base and down the road is Camp Lejuene. It good comoradery and conversation starters.

I think it really depends. I have an EGA wallet that I've had since I was on active duty. When I go to the gym I still wear my green PT shorts. Which my buddy rides me about every time. I had a USMC vet ball cap at some point but misplaced it during one of my moves. My dad (he retired) loaned me his USMC baseball jacket and I don't wear it too often because I feel that it screams boot. My jeep has an emblem cover on the tow hitch. I still have a set of the old gore-tex that I wore out once during a really bad rain storm but I was self-conscious of wearing it out in town the whole time.

I have Army PT shirts I wear, and I have an Army lapel pin I wear on my suit jackets along with my flag pin.

But I have to say, I never get that nod of acknowledgment. Not that I'm looking for it mind you. I did have one guy come up to me and flash me his military ID at Starbucks and tell me my PT shirt is not authorized out in public. I showed him my VA ID and said thank you but I no longer have to worry about that. I had just come from a workout and only wanted some coffee. He then said "Oh" and walked away. A lady came up to me at kickboxing class and asked me how long my husband has been in the service and how sweet it was of me to support him by wearing the shirt. I politely told her my ex-husband has been in over 24 years, and that I served as well. She said "Oh ok" and walked away. It makes me mad.

Many assume that women who wear stuff like that are spouses and many women have served which is why I like that there are some companies addressing that with women's veteran apparel.

I want to find that one "thing" that I can wear all the time but haven't. I'm not a big hat person and don't often wear more than a sweat shirt or hoodie when its cold, yet I've still been picked out of the crowd before. Lets face it, we carry ourselves differently, and that's often enough. Been thinking a service ring or something simple and small though.

Aside from that I have a single Army T-shirt, my boots occasionally and, of course, a pair of PJ pants that I wear at home.

The closest thing I can say I do that lets other's know I'm a veteran is that I have placed veteran plates on all of my vehicles (unlike other states, like Nevada, you have to present your DD-214 to qualify). If that qualifies as "wearing" then yes, I do.

I do almost daily. I have seen good arguments for and against it. For me it is about reminding those around me that we still have brothers and sisters out protecting our nation and our way of life. It is far to easy for people to forget we still have service members out in harms way to keep them free here at home.
I make a special effort to conduct myself so as to bring credit upon the Army, the armed services in general and our nation as a whole when I do so.

Living in the Norfolk/Hampton Roads area, 1 in 4 PEOPLE (not adults, all people) currently serve or are veterans. Advertising my service seems a little pointless. People can look at me and easily infer that I am active duty based on my groomed appearance alone.

I typically wear my "been there, done that" T-shirts around the house or if I'm doing something where I'm likely to get sweaty or dirty (gym, range, etc). Really picked up this habit from living in Korea. I like to try to keep it low key. No need to overtly advertise affiliation. You can draw negative attention just as easily as positive attention.

It depends on if there is a function recognizing veterans or military appreciation. I live in a military friendly city so they are always doing something to show their appreciation towards those who are serving and have served. I have a hat that says OIF/OEF Veteran and another that says US Army Retired. Usually when I wear my hats in public people come up to me and shake my hand and thank me for my service. I have met many other veterans that way and especially Vietnam Veterans. I always approach them and thank them for their service and tell them welcome home. It's because of their service that I received the welcome home that I got.

I don't really go out of my way to wear anything but I do sometimes. I wear some of my old softball shirts and stuff like that. I don't look good in covers so I never wear them lol.

The one thing I always have on me is a dog tag (finish reading before judging :o) )

I had my daughter on May 10th it was 2 days before Mother's Day and When I showed up to sign my leave paperwork on the 13th I was welcomed with a Dog Tag. They had one created with both my kids names and DOB on it. It is a great reminder that people care. I have it with me wherever I go and that sound the real dog tags make when it hits metal is recognizable. I get looks sometimes from people that know that sound.

I have a few things I'll wear. I have an Armor branch insignia tie tack ( I initially commissioned as an Armor Officer) and a few t-shirts from different units and events I've participated in. I have Iraq Veteran plates on a couple of my vehicles if that counts as well. The most common place I'll wear military related gear is the local gym. It suits my needs and occasionally it'll help me recruit for my unit that is under strength.

I understand why people choose not to. I'll admit I feel uncomfortable when I get showered with praise in the civilian world. However my military service is a big part of my identity, especially since I still wear a uniform. People can usually tell just by looking at me, much like I can identify a fellow veteran without even speaking with them.

ALL the time. If I had a tattoo it would be an Army tattoo so I could be identified by other Vets even at a nudist colony. LOL! All of the service organizations have merchandise available at their websites, and they all need our support. If you're supporting a service organization, make it one of the big organizations:DAV, American Legion, VFW, or AMVETs, these are the guys fighting for us in D.C.

I have a ball cap with my anchor and coxswain insignia on it. It was authorized for wear for years, but recently changes to the uniform regs have outlawed them by doing away with local command specific caps and standardizing the Coast Guard's headgear. I wear some days, and others not.

I do however wear my CG PT gear or a chiefs' mess t-shirt every day when I run.

Be they ball caps or t-shirts to sweat shirts, I have many that we have collected over the years. I am proud of the places i have been. Now as to the terrorist threats and data collection, I will continue to follow local guidance for protection and awareness.
As to not showing my pride, that will not happen, not now, not ever. Even my wheel chair van is labeled with DV license plates. Those are plates i have earned, not the ones of my choice, but, I have earned this. I wear them with pride of several generations that have served in my family.
Always be aware where you are and what and who is around you. Just my thoughts.

I try not to draw attention to myself, what with all the threats against Military personnel being out there. I was in the Navy and then the Army. When I got out of the service, I didn't want to wear anything "military", regardless of what branch. The "military bearing" that is instilled in us is there and it shows, especially to other current and former military folks. The respect, the attitude, everything, and we see each other a mile away and tell our spouses, "he/she is/was in the military" and when asked how do you know, we just know. It took several years and finally I decided I wanted to sport a cap with my "boat" on it. Sadly, the old gal is heading toward TX from WA to be broken up now, so memories will be the only thing left of her soon. I have a few caps with Navy or Army on them, usually something in military shades (OD, khaki, navy blue) and a few T's as well, and a few pair of cargo pants. As a County Veteran Service Officer, I see all age groups of veterans, and most of us "old guys/gals" wear something to "advertise". One young OIF vet came in the other day and said the one thing he misses the most is the camaraderie and sense of purpose. I shook his hand and told him welcome to the club. I may not like everything I had to do while I served, on sea or on land, but the "brotherhood" of military service is what I wear anything "military" for. I guess the military is sorta like my alma mater.

AS a Viet Nam Vet I wear clothing related to my service in Viet Nam. I do it to shame those who allowed the genocide that came when we left without finishing a job. Much like we see today with the rise of ISIS. We are asked to sacrifice and then those who do are kicked to the curb. I am terminally ill from my service connected illnesses and have to say I am being treated by the VA as though I did this to myself. BE proud you served. Hold it up for all to see. Maybe if we shame enough of the no shows we will be treated with respect and honor. Maybe it will help 1 dying vet.

Sometimes the things I wear aren't so much "Yay Army", but rather things like RangerUp or Article 15 clothing. I have a Support our Troops hat and a few Army t-shirts....but ultimately, I find that I have so much in my house that has US Army on it...and typically it isn't hard to spot someone with the military based on their posture/appearance and haircut.

I often wear shirts and things that show my job. I take much pride in my work. For example, I'm wearing a shirt now that says "Combat Trauma Management" and it's shows a corpsman helping a downed Marine on the battlefield. I wear things like this because, (1) I want people to know I am a Corpsman/Medic and I am there if they need medical assistance, (2) I will not let a terrorist threat suppress my ability to wear what I please when I please. It is basically stripping my right to be free just because terrorists want to scare us by telling us they will find us. Excuse my language gents, but fuck that!, (3) I like to meet my brothers when I'm out. Occasionally I'll get a good, "Whats up Doc", and I'm able to identify my Marines. That's my reasoning..

My memorial shirts for my boy's, I wear around without hesitation. I have veteran tag's on my car, us my old PT and Unit shirts to work out. I wear my memorial bracelets every single day.

Under no circumstance do I wear any of those tacky "Doc/Medic" shirts.

I am proud of my service, but the fact I was an Army Medic doesn't make up my identity. Its a component of it. I have other awesome things about me.

I feel people who wear military related apparel everyday, or very often, don't have much of an identity outside being a veteran.

I have been retired for 3 yrs and I just started to wear a OEF hat, and that is my wife's doing. I have always felt uncomfortable announcing my service, not be cause I am ashamed but I am to humble about it.

Got a new RAM 1500, and designed some vinyl decals to personalize it a bit.

The installer (David) is extremely detail oriented, has been doing this for years, and uses the best quality vinyl for his installations.

I do it to meet other vets. I also do it because I've met far too many people who've never met a veteran. Civilians have questions. They're curious. So if they know I'm a vet, they'll ask me. It's an opportunity to educate people. You'll also meet some people you wish you hadn't. Some people are too free with their political opinions, their xenophobia, etc. But for the most part, these can and often are good exchanges.

Totally. Just hats and I do it for the same reason. I hope to connect with other vets in my community and thank them for their service. I have met the most fascinating individuals that live right around me. I always stop to say 'thank you' to a vet wearing that easily recognizable "WWII Vet" or "Vietnam Vet" black and yellow ball cap.

I see probably more former Marine indicators than all the rest combined. A few Navy (most Snow Birds) some Army very, very few Air Force.

I usually only wear military-affiliated clothing for exercise, except pants. I'll wear BDU or DCU pants for more rugged activities - hiking, fishing, etc.

Becoming a Marine was one of my biggest life success stories. I wear my gear and claim my brother and sisterhood proudly. I love meeting other Marines out in the civilian world and trade stories.

I don't do it for the praise of others. It's funny, most people think I'm a military spouse - the raised eyebrows and WOW expression on their faces are just classic. :) I wear my gear for ME.

I do wear ball caps and T shirts on occasions. Being a Coastie makes it more difficult to find gedunk that has Coast Guard insignias or other such service describing emblems on them. I know we are the smallest service, and due to that many manufacturers do not offer them. But then, I joined to serve my country while directly offering the people my assistance. I always wanted to be a fireman or a cop while growing up and the Coast Guard allowed me to be both plus a lifeguard and a HAZMAT crewmember! All the while, I was trained to work on all mechanical items found on Coast Guard vessels and buildings. Yup, I was a Machinery Tech.

I am proud of my service and wear clothing that reflects that pride. I have many articles of clothing depicting the units I have been assigned to in the seven years I served. My wife is often frustrated that I will opt to wear a T shirt with a former unit insignia than more appropriate clothing for an occassion. I remind her that I am getting old so just humor me.

I don't like bringing attention to myself by the things that I wear. They usually know I am in the military by my haircut and even then I feel a bit uncomfortable. I am not one for the lime light. I do take pride though, when I am talking to someone and they ask me if I am in the military based on the way I walk into a room or express myself in conversation.

I often wear a cap that has one of several Air Force logos on it and, occasionally, I wear a USAF shirt. I'm proud of my service to my country & I don't mind showing it off at all.

I just recently brought an Army ballcap. I can't find a Desert Storm-Era Veteran one, but that is a story for another day. My better half made a comment about "old men" wearing them. My reply was when is "the starting age for the hats?"

I even go out of my way to look for items related to Combat Engr. to let others know what I was in the Army and to see others of different services and different types of msos. Just say hey to fellow brothers or have a talk or get to know to be friends for life or how ever long you will be around. Why not?

I have some Marine Corps stickers on the back of truck (rank, rack of ribbons, unit)....I was told by another member that I was "boasting" and looking for attention. I found the accusation very offensive and assured him that it was strictly my pride in service and to discover other veterans.

Yes, I'am a Vietnam Vet. I'am verry proud of not only myself, but, my fellow brothers!!!! Not just Vietnam Vets. But ALL Veterans! We have all done things to defend the defenseless! And in a lot of situations, we all did things that we thought where helping others. Sometimes for a nation that didn't agree with or thinking. And sometimes even by our own contuntry, and our own GOV. Wouldn't support what we did, however, they called us to defend them! At times we where called names, or accused of some verry bad an , horrible acts!!!! Most times unjustified! But most of a verry SPECIAL PART, of us would do what we did all over again, because, WE LOVE OUR AMERICA! !!!!!!!

When I'm at my job, I've had people recognize me as prior-military from my rigger belt I was issued that I still wear (it's the only belt that fits me), and my haircut. That's about as subtle as it gets lol.

I usually don't, mainly because i don't have much army stuff and didn't want to go crazy with souvenirs or found something i really liked, but id have no problem wearing it, its who you are. I have a army sticker on my car with that "Starbucks" and coffee and guns sticker and a lanyard for my work badges.

In same note especially for the younger guys you cant ness tell if they were or are military, just because they wear a shirt that says something on it(its a fad, plus how many guys do we have faking it and going on our wall of shame list?). I usually can tell besides from my already friends. Its the haircuts or body expressions that can give it away or for older gentleman they wear ball caps and vests.

I have traded my retirement pin for a spouse pin on my suit jacket to support my wife, but will occasionally wear my disabled vet hat. Also I have some disabled vet plates when I goback to the states. I still work every day with the Air Force so I have not had time to miss it.

I wear shirts and/or caps because Im proud to be part of the US Army. I dont seek recognition but it does occasionally strike conversations with other veterans or young people thinking about a service career. I like talking to young people about joining the military and sharing with them the options and benefits.

I still wear my 90's PT shirts. They're super comfortable, but alas, a bit thread-worn now. I also wear some unit t-shirts and such. My Army hat died a horrible death and I have yet to replace it.

I am a retired veteran. I always wear something military on my person. Mostly, ball caps, but I have other articles of clothing I wear as well. I served in Viet Nam as well as a short tour in Cuba. I, too, watch people and can usually tell when someone has served, even before I look at what they are wearing. Part of this is because my identity, what makes up my character, is so closely tied to my service years. If called to active duty today, regardless of my age, I would have my sea bag packed and be on the next flight to wherever I am sent.

A caution, however, is the way people say, "Thank you for your service." It has become a cliche that I am not comfortable with from those who have never worn the uniform of their country. I very much am in favor of the head nod and a smile.

Once in a while I’ll were a shirt that says Army, an old unit custom PT shirt, an old field jacket (OD green and BDU, or hat, but never more than one item. I hate it when I see vets dressed head to toe with various military bling. I know a retire 1SG that whenever I see him he’s wearing an Army hat with about 2 pounds of veteran pins on it. He also is usually wearing either BDU trousers of field jacket with his overburdened hat.

I take great pride in my branch and my service. However, after the first year or so in the military, that desire to show the world that you're a "hero" for enlisting and walking around like everyone should thank you for your service since you're such a rarity, wears off pretty quick. You learn how to be humble. Later on, you learn, one way or another, that the military is not looked up to or looked so kindly upon by everyone. In fact, you learn that your military affiliation might make you or your belongings a target. Companies rip you off, your car gets vandalized, and to some people you represent all the "atrocities" of war. As much as I would like to sport a military T or throw a Navy bumper sticker on my car, I don't. I consider it too much of a risk. My proof of service is my ID.

In Hawaii, the local population doesn't like outsiders, and definitely doesn't like military. We have "taken over" rather "stolen" their land and ruined their culture in their eyes. The best policy is to blend in.

This past weekend, I saw an old guy that looked pretty fit, wearing a really nice Army baseball cap. I went up to him where I was volunteering and asked if he was in the military. He seemed pretty fit, well dressed and in his late 50's. I quickly discovered that he didn't even speak English. Now guess where we were... in my church at our food bank. I had to walk outside to avoid ripping his hat off. I felt like he was posing and trying to make us feel sorry for him. Has anyone else run across this? I was screaming in my car (I had to stop volunteering). I felt like I just saw some old guy trying to make us feel sorry for him or thank him for his service....and that dummy was just be bopping around in this really, really nice cap.
