What made our Thanksgivings (and many other holidays and get-togethers) special were that the men went to the kitchen (of the family homestead) to play poker, and the women and younger children went to the living room to play other card games.

Our family always seemed to play cards as I was growing up. I have many fond memories of card games (cribbage, pinochle, poker, pitch, 31) growing up - at Thanksgiving and other special days. Other than that, we always had 'green stuff'. It was this strange combination of cool whip, green jello and pineapple. After dinner, we would clear the table and then start playing cards for money. Man, I love my family! SPC(P) Jay Heenan Tue, 25 Nov 2014 22:56:08 -0500 2014-11-25T22:56:08-05:00 2014-11-25T19:15:32-05:00
