I also have adopted the flag in front of the Section 8 Apartments in the village. I lower it to half staff when needed and raise it back up. On occasion a former Marine who lives there comes out and salutes it with me. Got the paperwork and all.<br /><br />Had a COL that knew how to get it done for Retirees. Granted it&#39;s a product of an &quot;Elevator exercise&quot; that is pretty much done on a weekly basis with hundreds of Flags, but there it was Flying High if only for a minute. And it was flown there for me. Otherwise I don&#39;t think I nor anyone in my family does. Oh I got a flag flown in Iraq for myself and my dad and then the BN commander and CSM would sign a certificate to go with it. I just found them at my dad&#39;s house last year. I completely forgot about those. I have two that I fly, one nylon for days the weather might not be nice, and one cotton for the good days. I have my father&#39;s VA funeral flag, a flag from the US Capitol I got from my Soldiers on my retirement, a flag that flew over NSA HQ on my NSA retirement, and I just received a flag from my Army Security Agency days that existed from 1945-1976 (I was only in it from 72-76). It was, and I received it about two weeks afterward. <br /> <br />Having been flown over the Capital, I&#39;m confident it&#39;s &quot;regulation&quot; in any sense of the word. I don&#39;t launder my flags, I give them to the Boy Scouts to be properly destroyed.
