Yes, I do. December 21st, 1981. The day I marched across the parade deck on Parris Island South Carolina. In some ways it feels like a lifetime ago and in others like it was only yesterday.

The day before we graduated (3 Nov 1980) Our SDI SSgt Saltzman got us together and said we were Marines. Of course the next day at graduation the Battalion Commander said he was officially giving us the title, but in my eyes my SDI was the one that deserved to be the one to do it, and he did.

May 21, 1979. 3rd battalion Platoon 3013 Parris Island. I was 17. My Dad was a US Army Korean War Vet . He laughed when I signed up with the Marines and said you will be home in two weeks. He ate those words on May 21, 1979 when I graduated from Boot.

August 1979, PISC, 3d Bn, Plt 3036. Some time it felt like yesterday and yet, so far. SSgt Randall, Sgt Farley, and Sgt Moultrie were my Drill Instructors. SSgt Randall became a SgtMaj, Sgt Farley I don't know, and Sgt Moultrie a MGySgt. Ironically, MGySgt Moultrie pinned on my MSgt chevrons. Ain't that something.

Yes I do. But I graduated in Feb 27 1998. But I earned it a week before that. After the Crucible and we humped Mount MF and my DI handed me my first EGA, that's when I remember I first earned the title.

It was a little different back in 75 as there was no crucible. But yes, the night before graduation, at lights out Senior Drill Instructor Lenna said "Good night Marines" at wich time I experienced on of the greatest feelings of success that I have ever felt.
