This would teach them the same things we all learned when we joined, respect, common sense, and duty to those around us. Now I would give them a chance to chose which branch of the service, as well as what MOS they wanted, but if this is not done within 6 mouths of graduating then they will be place where ever they are need most. However, even though we all signed the line of our own free volition, doesn't mean our leaders should needlessly send our sons and daughters into war. A leader, a GOOD leader will weigh the pluses and minuses of a war. I have a conscience that would make me REALLY think about the need to send someone's son(s) and Daughter(s) to a war.<br /><br />I guess as someone stated in another question: " The only ones against War are the ones who fight them." Now if there was a draft and their number was called, yes they should serve. Do I see them serving under that condition, no. There are too many deferments that they could easily get just like anyone else for that matter. Keep it a volunteer force.
