European markets have returned to normal after plunging with last week's Brexit vote. In the long run - say, over the next 10 years - do you think Britain will outperform what remains of the European Union after it leaves? Comments please.

No, Short Term they have definitely hurt themselves, Long Term they have hurt their Reputation and that takes a while to heal.

Yes SP5 Mark Kuzinski the United Kingdom will do very well. It helped that they did not change their basic currency from the Pound to the Euro which means they don't have to expend funds on changing postage stamps, ATMs coding, currency and bank note processes, etc.
When Denmark and Sweden leave they will need to spend some funds to convert from the Euro back to their respective Kroner. The EU is not as ruthless as the old USSR or the Roman Empire; but, like both the Belgian based bureaucrats are learning it is very challenging to regulate to any meaningful extent people from many different cultures and languages.
the UK will certainly outperform the Mediterranean bordering countries of the EU - many of which needed to be bailed out. Don't be shocked if the EU needs to bail out others this summer.

Depends. The UK needs trade with the continent and there is a not so small chance Scotland and less likely Northern Ireland tries to secede again. It'll be a while before the UK can in fact withdraw from the EU, and they have to use the intervening couple of years to negotiate agreements with it's trade partners.
Frankly, I am not surprised that Britain withdrew from the EU. The EU should have thrown Greece out several years ago. Spain, Portugal, and Ireland have also run afoul of EU charter rules. But... since the EU has neither teeth nor fortitude, it gets rolled by assertive members that know that there are those who want to see the EU stay together no matter what.
I don't think the UK will be the last state to leave. Especially if the consequences are not as dire as some would have us believe.

absolutely. They should have done it a long time ago. Hopefully Germany will be next. The EU needs to refine membership requirements in terms of GDP to debt. Maybe the US will relearn how to manage debt and a deteriorating welfare state someday soon too.

If the EU continues to soak up the debt of Greece and other countries that don't get their financial act together then the Brits and the GBP will be better off. Ever been in a relationship where your spouse spent more that you took in and decided to send money to his/her family overseas. Don't worry about when they will pay you back because it's never gonna happen. In the meantime, they have no plan to change their lifestyle so in all effect they be asking for more money later.

No.Survive yes.Their MiddleClass and Poor will suffer the worst.To all who say sovereignty is what makes us strongest,I would remind you in every endeavor America has been on We didn't do it alone,we always had allies.We couldn't have won our own Revolution against the British without France,and then there's WW1,WW2.The Assyrians were beat by an alliance.So my point is it is possible for the British to survive but not thrive in a Global Society.
