Since I played with those children my parents insisted that I learn about gun safety. And the neighboring parents had no problem whatsoever teaching me that skill on behalf of my parents. And always the first lesson is that there is no such thing as an unloaded weapon. Once that is understood we move on... You'd think that all Americans would know and understand this most basic concept, but it is one that is dimming as Americans surrender liberty for freedom from responsibility. I don't know about everyone being able to clear a "Ma Deuce" or field strip a Styer...but knowing how a tool works is the second step in safety; superseded only by first knowing what it is for.
