Do you think this is a worthy cause – Photos in Remembrance?

RP Members you are a powerful group! Please pass along to your personal contacts! By the end of today many thousands of veterans could be helping with this endeavor! Many can represent a powerful tool!

One of our very own RallyPoint Members SGT Derrick Evans, a Veteran from Dec 1983 to Dec 1987 has embarked on the mission of all missions. This mission has taken him over a year and half to assemble, by building on what the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund - Wall of Faces and various other volunteer organizations have done to date, he has created a central photo depository on the Interest Platform that will serve as an awesome tribute to the men and women whose names are enshrined on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington DC.

SGT Evans has put together a board on Pinterest that will, when completed, contain the pictures of the 58,282 warriors Killed in Action in the Vietnam War. He currently has assembled, gathered, hunted down, and retrieve over 30,000 photos to-date, but is missing approximately 28,282. The missing photos are filled with a picture of the American Flag and contain the name of the individual.

This is not a new project, but it is one that needs a massive volunteer effort to accomplish - all the missing photos that he retrieves; he will post on his Pinterest Board as well as on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund - Wall of Faces

I was so inspired by the effort that SGT Evans has taken out of his personal time that I too felt compelled to offer my voluntary services to reach out to all my contacts in hopes of filling in those remaining American Flags with a photos that time will not forget.

There are a lot of veterans, active duty members, and retirees from all branches of the service on RallyPoint today. With such a network, it is not impossible for all of us to work together to fill in those blanks and put a picture and face to the fallen.

With the permission of RallyPoint, myself and SGT Evans I’m reaching out to all of you to lend a helping hand is this venture to find and secure these missing pictures, so we can compliment the Memorial Wall with pictures to be remember forever of those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War.

I know that I can count on the brother and sisters her on RallyPoint in to help reach out to all of your sources throughout the country to fill in the missing pictures!

Are you a Vietnam Veteran; are you a friend; are you a relative; are you a classmate of a Vietnam Veteran; or even a friend of a friend that knows a Vietnam Veteran? Do you have a photo of any of the KIA from the Vietnam War? In addition we are open to more ideas on where we can obtain these photos and on how we might be able to grow our volunteer force to accomplish this mission. I have many photographs of several friends that never made it home. I will look to see if their pictures are already there and if not, I'll submit them.

This sounds like a very worthy efforts COL Mikel J. Burroughs. I hope that parallel efforts are focused on the KIAs and WIAs would died later from wounds incurred during OEF, OIF and whatever the other missions in Iraq.

Solid, I think that this effort is awesome. Not to take away from all of the service mebers that were lost during the Vietnam conflict, I think this would be a great idea for all of the service members that were lost during OEF/OIF.

Sir, There exists a virtual wall of faces on the VVMF website - I assume these may be copyright protected, but perhaps you can work with the organization as I think they are missing several from the Native American warfighters from that time?

Great initiative sir! - I'm not sure what information is collected but Texas Tech has an archive server set up for a similar purpose of archiving the war. As much of the information is contributed by veterans there may be a possible collaboration. Also there is the Vietnam War Collection. It has over 50,000 Vietnam War photos from the Army and Marine Corp—many include names and descriptions. As well they have an interactive Vietnam Wall - where people can pay tribute via photos of stories for any of the 58,256 veterans killed or missing in the Vietnam War. Hope this helps.

Sir, any remembrance of times past is never a loss. If we forget our past we are destined to repeat our past. As much as I hate how Vietnam Veterans were spit upon and despised, we must remember that too.

Yes, I did my time "in the barrel." And I know several names on The Wall. I don't think we can do enough to keep America reminded of the cost of freedom. I salute all of you who are engaged in this particular project. Bravo Zulu!!!

I think it is a very worthy cause. It gives human faces to an effort of remembrance, not necessarily about the war, but about the men and women who gave their lives in service to our great country.

Yes! What a grand idea and a huge undertaking. As I was looking at the faces and names, I thought, they look just like me in that era. Man, we were young. I noticed though, that there aren't any "A"'s listed except one, at the beginning of the list. I can offer my assistance since this is something near and dear to my heart. this memory - the newsreel of our Warriors returning from The Southeast Asia Theatre of Conflict been spat on by hippies and other malcontents - yeah, I will take that image to my grave. I can't shake it, I can't block it out, I will never forget it. Never. I have decided to do whatever I can to erase that act of disrespect by honoring those brave Warriors in any way that I can. This is my motivation for creating the Vietnam Veterans Wall of Faces on Pinterest. I want to make sure they are never forgotten. Never. What say you?
