I highly doubt it. I understand the old wives' tale that Texas has a right to secede, but the reality is they don't.

"Texas has no right to secede. The bottom line is that any state — or confederation of states — can illegally secede from the Union. But the result, as we discovered in 1861, is Civil War."

No. However I do expect the US to come apart within the next 50 years or so but it will not be Texans causing the problem. The southwest is already majority Hispanic and both Mexico and groups such as La Raza claim that those states are still actually part of Mexico. Eventually when the majority gets big enough they may well try. The other group most likely to try to break away and form their own government is the millions of Muslims currently flooding into the country. I doubt that it will happen in my lifetime but I do think that it is coming.

I doubt if they will do it. But I understand the feeling of wanting to because of the dumb decisions being made by the current administration.

They can vote all they want, it will never happen anytime in the near future. If it did happen it would be the end of our country as we know it as it would set a very dangerous precedent.

Hasn't this question risen almost once a year for the past several years? They won't vote to secede and even if they did it would be meaningless. It would take a nut job to think that the federal government of the United States would just stand by and let them leave just because the state held a vote on it.

No, the Constitution will not permit secession for any state. Remember how that worked out the last time??
