Do you think that some people are genetically pre-conditioned to hate or they are taught to hate?

I don't believe we are genetically disposed to hate, but I do believe that we are genetically programmed to belong to a "tribe", which does not have to have members that are from the same race or gender. I think that is at least part of the reason many of us joined the Military.
I am a whitewater boater and you see it some in the groups that paddle. I like to call it my Caveman group shared dangers theory. We were programmed to get together with our buddies and go out and slay a mastodon, then come back and Barb-Q and tell lies around the fire.
Sounds like the Army to me.

I did not join the military to be part of tribe and that was not why I stayed in past my original thought of 4 years. I joined for college loan repayment. Then they threw bonuses and duty station of choice and I thought I could go somewhere to actually do my job...
Now I do this for my daughter.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - So you put up with everything that the Military can do for how many years to pay off your Student Loans? One of the reasons I joined was I was unemployed at the time, but that isn't the big reason that I stayed for 13 years active and active reserve, plus another 7 IRR, or tried to go back as a Reservist after that period. I am unconvinced that humans don't need to be part of something bigger than themselves, especially when that group not only provides support, but a guideline for behavior and how to interact with the rest of the group and those outside of it.

CPT Lawrence Cable - They paid off my loans in the first 3 years. I paid interest. Then the first time I had to reenlist I was going to get stop lossed anyway. So I reenlisted. I knew I couldn't find a job in 90 days after I got back. The second time was duty station of choice to Meade. That was ok - and I got a bonus. The third time bonus (smaller) and duty station of choice. This last time indef because of my daughter mostly.
I thought I would do intel when I got out til I worked out in the DC area. Intel people are nuts.
If I won the lottery or an unknown rich relative left me money and I got it today, I'd walk out the door and never look back.
I don't need to be part of anything bigger than myself but I do like to help people. If I were ever in the position I had a lot of money like the lottery, I know I would open a shelter for men who are domestic violence victims to start with. One thing I'd do with that money.

Genetically conditioned? Hate is not genetic. We are not born hating. Hate is learned, it's taught.
