In some cases it's not really the greatest idea, but I think that as long as the overall DOD mission statement is being met by all armed forces as a team effort, they probably won't change anything. Also, if they were to try and start individualizing functions, you'd see a push/pull battle across all of the branches to see who gets to do what and, most importantly, who gets funded to do what. It would turn in to a struggle for budget and funding, and they're definitely not ready for all of that! There are cyber operations the Army is doing that are far ahead of the Air Force ... but there is stuff the Air Force is doing that is far ahead of the Army as well.
