Do you think that we are safe/aware as a Country?

Is our Military getting the proper Intel to ensure the safety of our people, both Military and Civilian, by containing ISIS ? The following link is an interview with Sen. Richard Burr, Chairman of the Select Committee on Intelligence, with his views. What are yours?

I think we are as safe aware as the media says we are. The military is likely as aware as congress and the POTUS wants them to be. Military intel probably knows as much as anyone but cannot act on anything unilaterally. I guess we'll wait and see...

It depends on the size of the world you function in. I travel ample amounts in my world, someday I feel safe and others not so safe. In my house I feel very safe. Any bad guy entering my house should feel not so safe, given the welcome they most likely would receive!

In the word no. Sadly, most people have their heads in the sand. They have no awareness of the world as a global entity. Vigilance is necessary for self protection and to protect our nation.

This is 2 questions actually. As a Country are we safe? Relatively safe I believe and will stay that way if there are no attempts to strip our second amendment (as we all know they are working feverishly to do just that). However the aware part as a Country is not happening" They don't call them "Sheeple" for nothing! I knew as much before the Fox story as I did after and I'm only the Carpenter, he's the Chairman of the Select Committee on Intel....Houston, we have an Intel problem!

PVT Robert Gresham, I feel the same way as Sen Richard Burr. ISIS is alive and well. If our POTUS thinks we are safer here at home than other countries, he's smoking those left handed cigarettes. About all the civilians can do is stay vigilant. Watch your surroundings, the people, what they carry, how they look, etc. I don't mean to follow anyone. Just be alert. ISIS are sneaky bastards. They have the time to wait until we become less vigilant, as we did after 9/11. Yesterday at church a new person came in and sat down for the sermon. He was dressed in all black, had hair down to his shoulders, had black combat boots on, had a black head cover, and was wearing black gloves. I don't know what his trip was but, he turned out to be a visitor who joined the church. I was sitting with my wife and I looked over and saw him. I immediately got up and went to an empty seat across from him. He looked like what I would call suspicious. I wasn't sure what I would do if something happened, but I would do something to kill the bastard. I always have a knife. I asked my wife if she saw him. She said saw who. We've got to be more alert than we've ever been. ISIS isn't playing games.

I personally think that most people in the US have no clue what is going on around them just in their daily lives much less that as a country. Do this next time you are at Costco, Sams, Walmart or even Starbucks. Walk into one of these or anywhere, drop your keys, cough loud or even sneeze, and see how many actually look you way. Not very many. I do this with my wife all of the time, since Colorado is an Open/Concealed Carry state, I see if she notices people who open carry. This is a big Out-Doorsey State, and some of the folks even like to carry large knives (Pig Stickers as I call them) as well. We walked past a gentleman on his right side and his wife and child that were leaving Costco as we were entering. I asked my what she noticed? Her answer, Notice What? Asked her to turn and look at the family, she did. And asked, What am I looking for? How about the fact that the gentleman was open carrying a Glock and pig sticker. Here answer, Oh, I thought you were talking about the little girl. She is aware.

I tried something this weekend just to see how many would notice. I usually conceal carry, but because the weather was nice, I open carried, and it amazes me how many people do not even notice. Is everyone like this, no, but look at the recent incident that happened here over the Thanksgiving weekend. How does a guy walk into a clinic or anywhere carrying a shotgun and no one notices until he has already gotten off a couple of shots?

I believe that personal safety as a citizen, should be one of those things that people should really think about first. I mean you remember to wear your seatbelt, get your car tuned up, and stuff like that, but do you really know what is going on around you?

The world is becoming a scarier place, but you shouldn't have to live in fear or be afraid to leave your home. OPEN YOUR EYES.

Always a Balancing Act. To Gain Safety/Security you have to relinquish Freedom. How much Freedom do you want, How much Safety/Security do you want. I want some but not sure I would want a Police State Guraranteeing my Safety and Security. I hope that Todays Spooks are as Good as I was and Pray that they are even better.

No. In my neck of the wheat fields, occasionally you can find somewhere who has a clue but you are far more likely to find the majority knowledgeable about wealthy housewives in various parts of the country and how the book series " Shades of Gray" ended. Hunting is a very popular sport and and you will hear committed speeches regarding the right to bear arms (and they do) but without "Breaking News" few would know much about what goes on globally.
