They told me because I am MOS qualified as 12B engineer they would send me to WLC even though I'm not MOS qualified for their unit, they also said they would send me to MP school asap. Now they are telling me that they aren't sending me to WLC because I haven't been "evaluated" yet and they aren't sending me to school until the Company 1SG thinks I will make a good MP. Do you think this is fair, or do you think they should be required by law to honor what they say? Do you think that what a unit tells you should be honored by law? 2014-11-08T19:16:43-05:00 SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member 317547

I was looking for a new unit and found the one I am currently in. I remember your earlier post. Why not soldier on for a bit and prove to the 1SG that you are capable and "worthy" of his trust?

For the records, I do think they should honor their promises, maybe not by law, but as a matter of integrity, honesty, and trust. But I still think you should soldier on for a bit, prove yourself, and you'll be on your way. In New Jersey, at McGuire AFB, an official for the DMV was threatening me for not having insurance (I actually had overlapping coverage) but Mr. Lassiter was aggressive and threatening. I went to the JAG and told him my situation and he told me to tell him that your lawyer has this under control and if he has any question to call the Jag. You transferred to this MP unit as an Engineer if I read correctly. Is that right so far?
And now, you are drilling, but are not MOS qualified?
That only hurts the unit that you are at (and makes for lame duck time for you). Could it be simply an issue of not being able to get a school quota? I ask this, because I currently have folks sitting in my unit that cannot get to Basic until May, and then it will be September before they can get to school.
If that is the case-the response by CW5 Private RallyPoint Member is spot on with his advice and I would agree, become productive and useful (they may be watching).
My other question would be this: Who told you that you would be doing x and y? Reason I ask is that in our unit, we (command staff) interview prospective new members transferring in-because we (command staff) cannot dictate available school dates-those come from Base Training-after you have joined up. You might go in 2 months, could be 10, we never know.

To answer your question: It is imperative for LEADERS to mean what they say and do what they say they will do. The question comes down to who told you what.

**if I am wrong about the Guard/Reserve-apologies Response by CMSgt James Nolan made Nov 8 at 2014 8:17 PM 2014-11-08T20:17:02-05:00 2014-11-08T20:17:02-05:00 CPL Timothy Coffey 1339241

Words don't matter, always get it in writing. When you are a Veteran and working with VA it will be imperative that everything that you claim is in writing or you will be screwed, so in a way they are helping with your future training. You should thank them for the lessons now. Response by CPL Timothy Coffey made Feb 28 at 2016 9:44 PM 2016-02-28T21:44:57-05:00 2016-02-28T21:44:57-05:00 2014-11-08T19:16:43-05:00
