The badge is the individual skill identifier. You can have the tab but not the badge, or the badge and not the tab. The only thing that would change that in MHOP is if an actual Airborne Infantry school were developed to train troops to a higher level and thus earn a tab. Not likely at all though. Still it would be a great way to keep the higher Airborne Standard. However, the Ranger Tab, Sapper Tab, and so forth that you keep are earned through intense training. The airborne tab is for the unit to have the Airborne status that ensures their ranking on the JA-ATT OML. I am sure it is something similar for the Mountaineering Training. So it would be right for them to keep there tab when they leave there unit. The only tabs your are allow to wear always is Special Forces, Ranger, and I think Sapper. Those are earned by really had training and have special units. The military personal that serve in these units do not wear these tabs. You have to be qualified to wear them.
