I think it is as wrong as a republican sitting out Obama's, or had it been HRC, hers...
Its disrespectful to the President, a person duly elected by the people IAW the rule of law.

It is very disrespectful indeed. I talked to many military and former military today and even civilians and everyone says who are they representing by sitting out, surely not us.

I agree SGM Marquez, No matter who was elected no member of Congress for either party has any business behaving like that, it is disgraceful conduct. For over 200 years the smooth transition of power has taken place and I feel We as Americans have taken pride in that. These members of congress through their childish, immature behavior are embarrassing the entire country in front of the rest of the world !

Its a purely political move to score points with their supporters. I bet every single one of these elected officials have already sent out donation request letters citing their 'willingness' to go against the new president.

Well I am a democrat and I grew up in a very republican home with weekends at Asa Hutchinson's , john Paul hammerschmidt, Tim Hutchinson , and dad was on Asa's Drug czar committee when Asa was appointed under Bushfir about 6 months until dad had his heart attack. and the main thing I learned about republicans is that they don't possess the level of empathy that I have for others like democrats do. Not that it makes them bad people but it is an entirely different way of looking at the world and my beliefs align more with a democratic thought process Maj John Bell -

SGT Anna Kleinschmidt - So when Nancy Pelosi whips the Democrats in line on a party position and threatens to withhold important committee chairs and memberships is that done more democratically than when Republicans do it to their rank and file?

It is very nice that Democrats are very generous with other people's money. With their own money and time - Not so much.

Funny I don't find that in the least bit true in the libral vs conservative naritave. My husband and I have fostered over 65 children and voulenteer in the independent living program. We have adopted 5 children from foster care from birth to 17 we have had others come back as adults and helped them with a home. We have helped with setting up apartments with first and last months rent school books and many other things. We have helped mobilize fundraisers where libral friends mainly doctors I know have helped me raise funds for kids that have aged out of care. I give them classes where I teach them how to sew and cook and upholster furniture. My husband helps me with the upholstery and teaches them woodworking and car maintenance. We have a group of several people who all want to help. Most of the conservatives don't seem to be too intrested in giving their time. Sure the will have a fundraiser and give us a few bucks maybe once a year. You know have the youth group collect coins or something like that but no time or the kind of financial help I get from our Methodist church. Maj John Bell -

SGT Anna Kleinschmidt - I also don't agree with either party refusing to work with each other. But it is the reality of the tea party political movement. I don't see all of the republicans tied up in all of that nonsense but there are several that I believe have no will to compromise at all. I believe they have pushed the democrats to that same point and have held the entire country hostage over it. For the Goverment to work like it was meant to work with the checks and balances neither party should get it all their way. It is suppose to be a free and open forum where ideas can be exchanged and debated and a compromise could be made. As long as it's one or the other it's going to be crap. The president wasn't as important to me as the make up of congress I was hoping that it would be more of one controlled the house and one controlled the senate where there would be a possible way to force compromise and bipartisanship between both sides. But I do witness in my own life more active participation and my family actively participates in helping others. It is why I went into the medical feild. It is why I joined the military, it is why I volunteered to help with the Red Cross for the Joplin Tornados. And it's why I still help with foster children and teens.

No...but I am glad they are not there. I hope the sane voters in their areas remember who these whining crybabies are.

I have no problem with anyone deciding to be there or not, just keep your pie holes closed. If you have a problem with the peaceful transfer of power, then you are really advocating the violent transfer of power? I think we should stick with peace.

That's one of the things that absolutely pisses me off about what dems are doing right now. THEY are undermining democracy by pulling stunts like this. And the media is complicit.

Maj (Join to see) - I agree. If Trump's opponent had been elected, the very argument you just made would be used to castigate any Member of Congress who chose not to attend the Inauguration. Charges of bigotry would be made reflexively by leftists in the press. The commitment of each Member of Congress failing to attend the Inauguration to democracy and peaceful transfer of power would be called into loud question.
