Unless they know that most of the people who sent them to Congress would like them to represent them in that way, what they&#39;re doing is not in their constituents&#39; interest. Eventually, these people will need to seek help for their constituents which requires help from members of the other political parties in Congress, but they&#39;ll be reminded of what they did on Inauguration Day. It&#39;s not a first. They are just trying to keep up appearances with the majority that elected them. A very few may actually be doing it on principle, but it&#39;s mostly just for show. At least they are not blocking legislation as we have seen for the last 8 years, so it has little impact on the general public. With a Congress that has had approval ratings of 9% in the past couple of years, they are already at rock bottom. Many may be up for reelection in 2018 and this is just another way to gain political capital with their base. In broader terms it sets the stage for future expectations of our elected officials. Some day they&#39;ll figure out that we truly are stronger united, if it&#39;s not too late. The election was certified and Donald Trump was sworn in as President. Sounds more like sour grapes. The Democratic Party needs to analyze why their candidate lost. The fact that Sen Clinton had more popular votes mainly from large highly populated historically Democratic states is one of the reasons the Electoral College method. The results were President Trump won more states and total counties within the states. This conflict will always surface when a candidate wins the popular vote count but loses via Electoral College.
