I use ID, too. That's not my issue with the recent laws. The state GOP's invented a series of voter suppression laws for the sole purpose of rigging the vote. The laws are knocked down by courts as fast as they come.

There are easily seen voter suppression tactics. Last year, Alabama required ID, then shut down the DMV offices in predominately black counties, so blacks couldn't get the IDs. This year, a federal court struck down Texas Voter ID law, saying it was clear that the law was purposely designed to disenfranchise minorities.

Democracy, anybody?

Michael we should federalize DMVs in those states and withhold highway funds to force compliance

I blame the SCOTUS for much of this. They removed the scrutiny and oversight for states who have had a history of this sort of action and as soon as they did sure enough they started right back at it.

There has been one good thing about the Trump presidency, we can now safely put to bed any talk of a post racial America.

If it has been ruled that its a constitutional right to vote, and an ID infringes on that right, then please tell me why I need an ID to buy a weapon.

IDs don't infringe, if done properly. But purposely making laws with the intention of disenfranchising people is, however, unconstitutional and unDemocratic. Big D.

SSG (Join to see) Just a technical point: You don't need an ID in most states. You just buy any type of guns you want, in unlimited quantities, from a private citizen. No paperwork needed.

Personally, I think that perhaps our lawmakers should consider whether we should have a way of preventing angry, wife-beating, drunk schizophrenic men from buying weapons that are specifically designed for killing as many people as possible, quickly. Especially when those buyers have Facebook pages that say "Kill All Cops" or something like that.

But noooo. The NRA will not allow their (our???) legislators to even consider the question.

While I'm sure some voting fraud takes place, I also believe it is extremely rare. If fraud takes place it will be with electronic voting machines or the deliberate disenfranchisement of black voters. http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/07/north-carolina-voting-rights-law/493649/

LTC (Join to see) - Why would the guy from Ireland risk getting caught and being deported? I'm not saying a few idiots will not try, just that I suspect it's extremely rare. I believe it's much less rare for someone who is elderly or poor to not be able to vote because of laws requiring certain types of ID.

Voter fraud has been an issue for some time. I suspect this it will be flagrant this election. Question is will anyone do anything about it. Some of the reports I've seen from the last election are staggering, yet no one seems to care. WTF
