The people have voted for Trump, the people are the party, and the Reps are supposed to represent the people who they were elected to serve.

Not supporting the candidate selected by the people just reinforces the perception that led Trump to be the last man standing; that the establishment isn't representing the peoples interest but their own. They don't like him because they can't control his actions, he's already rich, successful and independent.

I liked Carson,(no better example of merit based success) then when he dropped, Cruz ( an ok guy all around, intelligent and well spoken), but neither could hold the support of the people.

So now I'm a Trump guy because it's either him or the two Socialists ; one open and honest and I'd sit and visit with any day, even though I don't like his political views, and one who is one in all manner except open and honest and I'd stay as far away from as possible for fear someone would associate me with her.

So I hope they get their act together, quit the drama and unite the party by backing the peoples choice. The votes will be split enough that no candidate will have a majority of electoral votes. There would be a deadlock.

In the case of an Electoral College deadlock or if no candidate receives the majority of votes, a “contingent election” is held. The election of the President goes to the House of Representatives. Each state delegation casts one vote for one of the top three contenders to determine a winner.

With the current make-up on the House of Representatives, I think it would be a good bet that Ryan, as one of the top three contenders, would sneak in as the next President Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made May 12 at 2016 5:44 PM 2016-05-12T17:44:44-04:00 2016-05-12T17:44:44-04:00 LTC Stephen F. 1524580

I don't think Donald Trump should ask the third ranking elected officer of the US government SP5 Mark Kuzinski.
