Unless you are talking a technical degree like engineering or law, time in service is worth MORE than a degree.
I have worked for several companies that have went from looking for a 4 year degree to looking for vets. Why? Because collage boys think they are entitled. They come in and think they should be running the place in 6 months. I mean they have a degree in English right?
Vets offer up things like discipline, work ethic, the ability to problem solve, they work well in teams or as an individual. Most important they bring maturity with them.
Companies were looking for 4 year degrees a couple years ago because somebody was able to stick it out in college are now finding out that a vet brings more to the table and have started recruiting them much more.
I say we must continue our education in order to grow, but don't ever let somebody tell you that a degree is worth more than time in service.

Very nice, thanks for responding. The educational requirement is the primary reason I created and established the MOSCI. It's a veteran only private institute that converts your military experience into college credits and depending on the 2 to 1 ratio determines the degree you are awarded. Now the playing field is level.

Cpl Dr Ronnie Manns That is a great idea. Obviously colleges do not want to give you much credit for your service. How would they make money? :)

SGT William Howell - So true because the real money comes on the general subjects and not so much on those truly required. Frankly,I'm just plain tired of being told that the years and experience while serving is only worth a little or nothing at all.

Only if you obtained a degree while in service.
Military experience and a college degree are different things. Both are benefitial.

I agree with you but we are in crisis with the number of suicides and unemployment of veterans mainly E1 through E7 and for me this is unacceptable.
