Lets try to help each other out by sharing our experiences & questions.

Figure out what you would like to do and check out what your local college or votech training is in your area. Colleges and votech training facilities are supposed to have a veterans representative, so go talk to them.

I work at a college as an academic advisor and benefits counselor for veterans and I am going further in my education now. There are several benefits that you may be eligible for for college or vocational training. Most veterans are surprised when they find out about their entitlements for their education.

The veteran community is a very complex one. Not all veterans think alike or act alike. You have some that want nothing to do with their military past and just want to get on with their life. While others want to relive their military days everyday. We come from a culture of not wanting to ask questions out of fear of being called a dumb ass. Your college should rate VA work-study students that can help you put on workshops to educate fellow Guard, Reserve, Active Duty, and Veterans at your school. When I do programming at my university I try to word it as Military Connected that way I don't exclude some of the different groups.

We have many senior enlisted, technical MOS's, recruiters and CW's that sometimes need only their core electives to get their general AAS.
It makes me laugh when somebody could take step aerobics through the school and get 3 credit hours, or you could go to Marine Corp Boot-camp and get 2 credit hours!! We go off the ACE recommendation guidelines.
