Io found that being able to talk to a group as if they were one was difficult but if you could master it, was a highly effective tool.

The ability to admit when your wrong goes a long way with the troops. Many leaders feel that apologizing makes you appear weak. I find that it makes you human and the troops appreciate the honesty (!in most cases). It must be two things: Fluent and Fluid. There most constant communication. Leaders amongst Leaders. Leaders amongst their Subordinates. The Key to Leadership is the example you set and your work ethic just be the Catalyst for your Influence. Blowing Smoke or popping smoke wont get anything done. Your EFFECTIVENESS should be determined by our Efficient you are. The body of Work for a Leader should both visible and self-evident. In fact I only have a total of about 34 college credits, Most of which occurred in the twilight of my career. I spent 36 years as an Air Traffic Controller. The last twenty years I spent as an Operations Supervisor and an Operations Manager for seven of those years. I was fortunate enough to attend courses at the FAA's Center for Management Development. In my opinion the most important skill a Leader can hold is the skill of communication. Communication is the life blood of any entity. It is the life blood or an organization, company and yes, even a marriage. The ten secrets you reveal shows just how to develop and improve those skills. Thank you for sharing! I had the benefit of having a dad who's an outstanding communicator and uses all of those even if talking to a crowd. It taught me a lot about how to lead people you have no real authority over.

I think the only moderation I personally have is #5. Confidence needs to be tempered with humility in some situations and leaders should avoid speaking overly confidently about things they don't have a good grasp of.

I would also add that a good leader doesn't blame things on intangible outsiders. They own the problem and figure out how to fix it within the circumstances they've been given. SGT Jeremiah B.
