Are you Active or Reserve, that will control how many days your deployment is. The reserves started doing 9 month tours in 2014 for some missions. I have heard if you do rotate into an area that is considered a combat zone for a very short time, you can get one. For all practical purposes it is a deployment. Does it meet all the criteria for a patch is another matter. You will not receive a patch though since as of fy14 Kuwait is an active duty PCS location for 1 year rotations, guard and reserve will complete 9 month missions there, and it is not a combat zone. You will receive the GWOT as well as the GWOT Expeditionary medal among several others when you return stateside. I just returned home from arifjan a little over a year ago. A "Mobilization" is being either activated from Compo 2 or Compo 3 and being placed on active duty. This can happen where the Service Member is stationed CONUS or OCONUS.

A "Deployment" is when the Service Member is mobilized and then stationed OCONUS. They are "Deployed".

Here are two regulations which will answer your question about the SSI-FWTS and stripes/bars:
DA Pam 670-1
AR 670-1

Worry about that when you get home. You are paid to do a job. Do the job to the best of your ability and learn to do it better than you have done before.

Do a little reading. It will help you at your next board.
