Does a re-enlistment waiver for misconduct in a prior enlistment effectively erase that as a disqualifier for special training/assignments? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/does-a-re-enlistment-waiver-for-misconduct-in-a-prior-enlistment-effectively-erase-that-as-a-disqualifier-for-special-training-assignments <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have received differing and conflicting answers on this question. I have a civilian career I aim to progress and a military career I am trying to rebuild for almost 2 years now. Answering this question will allow me to narrow my field of view on the direction I want to take them. I feel as though it would depend on what the misconduct was. Special assignments have higher standards and require additional requirements. Depending upon the type of misconduct and special assignment you may not be eligible. However, at your rank, there is no special assignment or training that you are eligible for where this would matter. When you are looking at recruiting/drill/instructor assignments as an E6 this will come into play. Your waiver is just that, an opportunity to serve despite your past infractions. Special training and duty assignments selection is based upon your capabilities and your ability to translate that potential in your service. You&#39;ve got a black mark in your past, but exemplary performance since then is a mitigating factor. Whether you are selected for the training or assignments you desire will depend upon how you compare to other applicants. A superior recommendation from your CO citing performance since you were allowed to reenlist has heavy weight to selection boards and assignment personnel. Normally nothing is erased, but it can be diminished by exemplary performance.
