Although usually they would get twice as long. The SM can take a record APFT during recovery if the Soldier and the command agree that he/she is ready to take the test. However being realistic about it, the Soldier will more than likely be placed on another profile for orthopedic/physical therapy and so forth to get back to normal after the surgery. The profile after the surgery is just to prevent initial re injury of the corrected ailment and by no means guarantees a Soldier will be FMC.
