SFC Private RallyPoint Member 4742419 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Several SNCOs in my BN have been trying to get a clear regulation driven answer to this question. I&#39;ve looked into 600-25 and haven&#39;t read anything clearly stating this true or false. Does anyone know the answer and where to find it? Does a SSG(P)'s time as a PSG count as rated PSG time? 2019-06-22T04:54:28-04:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 4742419 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Several SNCOs in my BN have been trying to get a clear regulation driven answer to this question. Hell the SSG doesn&#39;t need to be promotable to get the credit. He or she just needs to hold the E-7 position for six months or longer and receive a NCOER stating that they are serving in an E-7 slot. I served as an Ambulance PSG in Korea while I was a SSG. I held the position for a year and my NCOERs reflected the skill level and scope of duties. The duty position was Ambulance PSG/68W40 on the MTOE and that is what they put on my NCOER. This has always been the norm and promotion status shouldn&#39;t effect the rated time. It is the same as having a SGT in a 20 level slot that is sent to the promotion board but kept in the 20 level slot. They are still in the 20 level slot as a promotable SGT. They would stay rated as a SGT when promoted to SSG if there are no open 30 level slots. It is the skill level of the position the soldier is slotted in that matters. Hypothetically, the same Soldier that is a SSG in a 20 level slot could volunteer to go to Korea and find themselves in a 40 level slot. They may have been far down the totem pole in their previous unit but now they are receiving PSG time because they are filling a 40 slot. If the Soldier is smart and has great interpersonal skills they can convince the CSM to let them fill the slot on the PERSTAT report that is sent to higher. This will ensure that no E-7 is requisitioned to fill the slot and protects the NCO that is slotted one level up. I wish I had a regulation citation for you but I don&#39;t. This is how it is normally done in units though. I have to reiterate my question. Why is this an issue? Is the SSG not performing or is there a conflict somewhere. Is there a SSG in the PSG slot and the SSG(P) was a subordinate that got selected ahead of his/her former PSG? SSG(P) are always assigned as SFCs by MILPO. It is only a matter of time before their number comes up. It would be a waste of an asset to continue to consider them as SSGs. As I recall, if you are a SSG(P) working in an E7 position you are rated against the other E7s in that chain. If you are an E6 you would be rated against other E6s but noting that you are working a rank above your current grade etc. The leadership ability of the soldier is then rated in the appropriate block. <br /><br />Perhaps I’m misunderstanding the question. At a minimum it looks good at your next centralized promo board. If you are that hell bent on the truth I&#39;d email branch manager, they should know the actual reg. My NCOER&#39;s always stated the fact. While assigned to an INF BN, we only had a SCOUT PLT. which meant the PSG was in charge as an E-7. He had newly arrived so I had no chance of taking his slot. My CSM offered me to charge of an INF Bradley PLT instead. I hesitated because of the tactical side, but he challenged me to do it &amp; to be different. Until this day: thank you CSM. It was a wise move. Also, whenever the SFC board opens HRC has a page that has all the resources for that board. There is usually MILPERs, MFRs, &amp; ALARACTS saying what they are looking for.
