You will EAS from the Navy and then access into the Army. When you separate from the Navy you will have to use, sell, or lose your leave at your discharge.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made May 27 at 2021 8:01 PM2021-05-27T20:01:00-04:002021-05-27T20:01:00-04:00CW4 Craig Urban7008925<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You need to use it. Your command would have to do and I don't know who would have to approve it between services. Occasionally it is done when reservists are demoralized or changing types of orders but it is an exception within the service.<br /><br />I recommend taking the leave if possible.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made May 28 at 2021 7:43 AM2021-05-28T07:43:57-04:002021-05-28T07:43:57-04:00LtCol Robert Quinter7009056<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Found two interesting references. An entry is directed to be made in the records of officers to provide the receiving service with a certified leave balance from the losing branch. More applicable to you, in the conditional release form for enlisted, there is a specific warning to the serviceman that they will be discharged from the losing service effective 2400 with the receiving service immediately joining them so there is no split service.<br />To me, the key word here is "discharged", which I would interpret as meaning you would be paid subject to normal discharge procedures. This is consistent with the difference between an enlistment contract, which is accomplished at the branch level, and a commission, which is granted by congress.<br />Of course, my research and opinion carries as much weight as your normal convenience store clerk, so you can either keep trying to get an answer from the pay people or go with the flow and get a surprise either way when you execute the transfer.Response by LtCol Robert Quinter made May 28 at 2021 8:19 AM2021-05-28T08:19:28-04:002021-05-28T08:19:28-04:00PO3 Kevin Davis7009182<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I went from the Navy to the Army back in 1985/6-ish and the Navy paid all the outstanding leave accrued. Apparently it's an easy process and dfas manages all branches financial stuff and the Army and Navy fall under the DoD making it easy peasy.Response by 1LT Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 23 at 2021 8:52 AM2021-07-23T08:52:42-04:002021-07-23T08:52:42-04:002021-05-27T19:27:29-04:00
