In 2010 during Congressional hearing about Marines on Guam, Admiral Willard seamlessly answers a question that would have had me laughing out loud. IMHO the Admiral deserves a medal for his cool, and non-judgmental answer.
Do RallyPoint Members have any thoughts on this, or any similar examples of military members purporting themselves in a positive manner in the face of odd circumstances?

Not sure he deserves a medal, but he certainly deserv4es to be recognized for his calm demeanor when listening and responding to this fool.

After this video surfaces and went viral a coupe of years or so ago, Representative Johnson and his staff tried to spin the story that he was not serious and was only having fun with is comments. Anybody who sees the video knows that he was absolutely serious. He is an idiot.

He was just reelected last year to another term. Speaks volumes about the intelligence of his constituency in the DeKalb County, Georgia area.

Yes, I was of course having a little fun myself with the suggestion of a medal.

I am so thankfull that I wasn't anyplace near that area when he said that about it tipping over.
For him to answer the way he did was unreal, he didn't even give a double take? You know he's good, dealing with that situation way he did.

I have shared this very video many times myself. The idea that there is a threat of Guam "tipping over and capsizing" is remarkable in it's complete ignorance of logic. I'm not even sure the Congressman wasn't on some form of autopilot, ruminating about global warming and the like.

For extra credit fun, watch the reactions of the junior officers in the background. They are less successful maintaining their bearing.

And for the record, yes Admiral Willard was very impressive in handling that. He didn't skip a beat.
