CPT Private RallyPoint Member4322218<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So let me start by saying, I’m not branch detailed but will be attending a different CCC than my basic branch of infantry. The reason is because my civilian education and 20+ years of civilian experience is the reason for the different CCC. Upon reading branch assignments for officers in AR 611-1, it appears to state all officers retain their basic branch until such time they apply to change branches. Does anyone know this to be the case or is an officer immediately transferred upon completion of a different CCC than their OBC/BOLC branch? I ask because I take great pride in being an Infantry Officer, enjoy my current unit and having a skillset in addition to being an infantry officer. Any knowledge on this topic would be greatly appreciated.Does an officer basic branch assignment automatically change if attending a different CCC other than the one they attended for OBC/BOLC?2019-01-27T22:13:53-05:00CPT Private RallyPoint Member4322218<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So let me start by saying, I’m not branch detailed but will be attending a different CCC than my basic branch of infantry. That being said, a branch transfer packet would need to be completed to grant you your new branch and AOC.Response by 2LT Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 27 at 2019 10:20 PM2019-01-27T22:20:50-05:002019-01-27T22:20:50-05:00LTC Private RallyPoint Member4327822<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I'm not sure I understand why you are going to a different CCC in the first place. You say it is because of your 20 years of experience and civilian education. That's all great, but if you want to be an Infantry Officer why would you not want to go to the Infantry Course and get up to speed on all the latest in that branch? What difference does what you did as a civilian have on getting further education in your branch? Is it your intention to ever seek assignment to an Infantry unit in the future? Or do you take pride in wearing the crossed rifles, but don't really want to actually serve as an Infantry Officer in the future?Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 30 at 2019 5:23 AM2019-01-30T05:23:17-05:002019-01-30T05:23:17-05:00CPT Private RallyPoint Member5878052<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>1LT Brian Y. Can you confirm your own outcome or any additional info you found? <br /><br />As a National Guard soldier serving in the S3 staff of IBCT, I want to stay in my IN duty position for the next 12-24 months before ultimately re-classing, however, I'd prefer to knock out CCC (in this case LOG 3C) this summer. My only concern is that by completing LOG 3C ahead of time, I'll be automatically re-classed and thus kicked from my IN slot sooner than needed. <br /><br />Thanks in advance!<br />CPT TResponse by CPT Private RallyPoint Member made May 12 at 2020 12:37 AM2020-05-12T00:37:10-04:002020-05-12T00:37:10-04:002019-01-27T22:13:53-05:00
