Does anybody have any guidance on wearing awards from allied nations?

Any info I get is just research. I just want to be as correct as possible.
I know it isn't commonplace, it may not even be possible anymore, but...
If someone who served honorably in an allied nation's armed forces later joined the U.S. Military, would he still wear awards earned while service the allied nation?

I know there are certain awards that can be worn, but would this be case by case?

Many Soldiers wear foreign awards. It's just a question of sending up the documentation to HRC and getting the authorization to wear the awards.

Foreign Airborne Wings could be worn. The German Armed Forces marksmanship and proficiency badges are also recognized by our Army. So yes is the answer but within reason and by regulation.

I have the German Armed Forces marksmanship award, and still have the original paper work in German. The only thing I was ever told was that you can only wear one foreign award at a time.

Generally speaking, the direct answer to your question is no.
However, you can request that wear of foreign decorations be authorized. Your reference is AR 600-8-22 appendix D and E.
Getting a badge authorized is somewhat easier, and that is much more common as well.
See the link below for all the information you need to apply for authorized wear. It is a bit too cumbersome to post all of it.

You certainly can, within the regulatory guidance posted here. For example, the NATO medals are very commonly worn; and myself and a group of my teammates earned our Nijmegen 4-Day Crosses this year, which is worn at the end of the ribbon rack after all US Awards. Just remember that Foreign decorations are worn in the order received.
