Does anybody here believe that Sarasota is not the best environment for those retired from the military?

I'm still far off from retirement, but coming from northern VA where my dad retired, the enviroment is a lot different here in sarasota. Northern VA is filled with military installations and government employees. I heard the biggest transition from leaving the military is the lack of respect and order. While there are a lot of veterans in the sarasota/bradenton area, there are no military installations and I think the general public reacts and treats military and prior military members differently than in other locations.
