I used to send sailors to schools that had a practical application to their jobs as well as if they got out. I had them show me how they could use it to enhance the unit (sent one sailor to locksmith school ($80k) because our CO kept locking himself out of his Top Secret safe), and then wrote the orders. I think if you can prove how it will help the unit with a new skill, they should be amenable to the idea... Out of the box, you may look at grants or scholarships from places like the VFW. One of my guys got a grant to go to a technical school from the local VFW (side note, almost no one applies for these things). Best of luck to you buddy! You should be rated an excellent risk by any credit union due to your current service in the Army Reserve unless your otherwise tapped out on credit cards.

What CPT Durish said is correct as well.
