It’s usually broken up over multiple years. You will be taxed on the amount because they consider it as income (yeah insane right!?) and once the taxes are deducted out the remainder is sent to your lender directly. <br /><br />Each year before your anniversary date you have to go to the self service website and make sure your student loan accounts are listed in the self service portal for them to be able to pay your lender.
