Does anybody know when we will be finding out our MOS redesignations (0651 and 0659)?

I'm currently on MSG duty and won't be back in the fleet for another 2.5 years, but I am just curious so that I know what to look forward to once my tour is up.

I can't answer your questions about what your MOS might be when you come back from MSG duty, but congrats on getting assigned as an MSG. BTDT - MSG Ottawa 1969-1972. October 1st is when you will receive a new MOS. Rule of thumb is that 065x turns into 067x 061x turns into 063x.

Log onto MCTIMS to view the new training and readiness manual for 06xx.

I agree with MSGT Orvis, it helps your career....MSG Warsaw, Poland and Stockholm, Sweden 1978-81. I would say try to stay current on your MOS, take as many courses as you can. Three years is a long time away and many things can change in that time....Semper Fi...

I’m currently in the 0651 course (one of the last classes to go through as a 51). our orders are being delayed now because they’re redesignating us as 0671. offical 71 course start toward the end of October.

They are going to bring verified trainers into 29 again to train them as teachers for the new MOS's. you get to choose between 067x and 063x as a 065x. 063x will be networking and 067x will be centered on systems. You have to go to your support battalion to get trained by the new verified trainers once they get everything together. Force wide retraining is expected to be completed around 2019 according to the whispers I've heard.
