Col Private RallyPoint Member 613796

Today I had Rally Point administrators make numerous "tag changes" to one of my discussion posts, and a rephrasing of another discussion post because the title wasn't formatted as a question. Really? I see numerous discussion posts currently on Rally Point that are not formatted as a question. And all the tag changes, seriously? How many profile points do you all get for the edits anyway? Does anyone else get annoyed with the numerous changes/edits made to your post by RallyPoint Administrators? 2015-04-23T18:06:45-04:00 Col Private RallyPoint Member 613796

Today I had Rally Point administrators make numerous "tag changes" to one of my discussion posts, and a rephrasing of another discussion post because the title wasn't formatted as a question. Our admin points come from merging duplicate threads, I think. that's the only one where I've seen explicit mention of it. Really we do it to make things easier to understand and in compliance with the RallyPoint Terms of Service laid out in RP 3-1. If you object you can always say so and tag senor member admins to change it back, if your objection is based in the TOS. That can quite often change the 'flavor' of the intended discussion. So can the changes to the tittles, but I can see that for purposes of "clarity."

I don't like the silent alteration of another's words. I don't claim that they can't do it, as it is a private site, but I don't like it. I would actually prefer straight deletion - preferably with a "deleted by admin" placeholder. Admin has their eye on you. They may just edit you off of rallypoint with that kind of talk.

Honestly it's no big deal to me. I've had it happen once and I believe it was due to a duplicate post issue. Can you admit that your writing isn't of the highest caliber? I sure can. I get that they'd rephrase it to make the topic more understandable or focused. Also, if they edited yours and you see multiple posts not formatted as a question, it's probably because they haven't gotten to them yet. Being an admin doesn't sound like much fun, and I suppose they do have a life of their own as well. I don't think they are power tripping with their admin stripe of designated glory lol.

For humorous purposes we should find a evil name for admins on rallypoint(I can assume that this may have been a topic already and this will get edited or rephrased lolol) Response by SrA Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 24 at 2015 7:55 AM 2015-04-24T07:55:36-04:00 2015-04-24T07:55:36-04:00 TSgt Joshua Copeland 615229

Admins get "admin point" for adding/changing tags, titles, merges, etc. I dont agree with points being awarded for it, but I guess that his how they keep track of who is an "active" or not. It made perfect sense.

I agree with you, sir, about the question format. I do my best to post questions when I do start a discussion because that's still the preferred way to do things here. But it's obviously not required, just recommended.

I often tighten up grammar and spelling mistakes in titles. And I will tweak tags if I see something obvious missing.

The bottom line is that RP member admins are here to help. With that said, we should not change the essence of the post or "get in the way." We should be making things better, kind of behind the scenes. Facilitating in forum, as it were. Don't you?" But that would be changing the topic. But adding a tag to this would only sort it into another group were it's members would see it. I don't think a Tag would be changing much. It is more of a sorting situation. I have also altered some titles. We have our reasons but we try to consult another before we do this. It is something that we do in order to clarify some questions. If the point is still relied it isn't really much. We have to QC a lot of things. It is one of those things that no matter what we do we are going to catch flak. We just really try to keep with the original intent. Response by CPT Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 26 at 2015 2:24 AM 2015-04-26T02:24:28-04:00 2015-04-26T02:24:28-04:00 GySgt Wayne A. Are all these deleted when the account is deleted? I ask because, recently, someone who I had a lot of interaction with closed their account. Now I am noticing that his posts seem to have disappeared, as has the endorsement he gave me, etc.
Response by GySgt Wayne A.
