Does anyone else have an issue finding training for Intel guys?

I've noticed that their is not a lot of training resources available at the soldier level for MI soldier. In my research I've come across things like MIST and ISR Art of Warfare, but now I'm running into brick walls. Are there any MI Training NCOs who have had any success with finding "hip pocket" MI Training?

I have nothing to contribute for the question, but I want to note the irony that your job is to find things and you can't find these things.

You can consult the SMCT for the specific skill levels you're looking for.

There is also alot of foundry classes for schools. I know Army Cyber has a 2 weeks LET course we provide.

I've found dead that one of the best things you can do for "hip pocket" training is to focus on the fundamentals. You'd be surprised how many young MI soldiers do not know what type of symbology is used for units, BN'S or BDE's, not to mention specialized units like aviation. Computer's are great but at some point we have to be capable of doing our jobs without them.

My go to for hip pocket/STT: IPB, Critical Thinking, Conventional Warfare, Irregular Warfare, Different MI Systems (DCGS, Palantir, CPOF, etc), Security training. Really what you should do is look at the 35F expectations by pay grade training manual and make sure all of your soldiers are proficient at where they need to be at their current level and where they are going for their next level.

Your best bet is to get in contact with your local foundry site. They will be able to let you know when they have training pertaining to the 35Fs available. You can also download the Foundry 2.0 catalog which should help you in deciding what training your soldiers need (keep in mind some of the courses require pre-requisites).

I concur with most of the post here about speaking with foundry and looking at their website. There are a lot of web based tools available. How ever what I've noticed: the biggest thing lacking with junior soldiers is the ability to write; doctrinally, coherently, and intelligibly. I would often assigned my soldiers research papers and use it as a tool to coach counsel and mentor them. It is more time consuming on the part of the NCO but I believe it pays huge dividends in the future.

It never hurts to read over your FMs, STPs, ATTPs, etc. Not only those for 35-series MOSs, but also studying warfighting functions you may be supporting as MI. You can best support your CDR's MDMP by knowing what units, equipment, and tactics they will be utilizing.

Grab a protractor and a map and brush them up on grid plotting and symbology at the minimum.
