Does anyone have any advice/tips for the WO flight board (National Guard)? I am attempting to revert to WO in order to go aviation.

LT if you call Fort Rucker Warrant Officer Division they will advise you on where, what forms and any additional material needed for your packet. If not then try the G1 at Rucker. There is a retired WO who works and processes all WO packets other works for the Army from his office. He knows the regulations and all that is required to complete your task.

Getting mixed answers on how formal/what kind of questions are asked-trying to make sure I'm prepared.

Every board is different and States have different cultures. One thing is sure, your state will ask you "Why." I have seen O-grades attempt to revert and one poorly answered that question as "The Warrant Pilots don't work as hard and don't have to deal with any paperwork." That was a foolish answer. A point to make in the decision to go from O-Grade to Warrant is to focus on the desire to become a technical expert in the aircraft. That is not a trade secret that Warrant Aviators are typically groomed to have more experience in the cockpit. Focus on your desire to track (AMSO/Safety/IP/MTP) and then offer your state the opportunity (should the opportunity come together) to call upon your leadership in the future once you've gained a solid foundation of experience. The Guard has a long history of Aviators going from O-Grade to Warrant and even Warrant to O-Grade. Make sure your answers are sincere and I highly recommend entering Aviation as a Warrant Officer. If the depth chart gets shallow on the O-Grade side of the house, being previously commissioned, you would not be in a bad position to step up.

As a guy that sits on a flight accession board. I would say contact your WO recruiter. He they are worth their salt they will prepare you for it. We ask anything from current events to operation to aviation to safety. If you go before the board have your shit straight, look good, and don't bull shit them. There are guys like me who can't handle that.

CW4 (Join to see) - what can I say except that every kid in the world grows up and at some point in their lives, wants to fly? I'm sure the Army can take the fun out of it from time to time but then again, you're flying and I'm not...
