Does anyone have any experience in being an Enlisted Aid? What should I expect during the train up and when assigned to a General Officer?

I met a enlisted aids to General Officers while working in both Unified Command and Major Command headquarters. I think success is a personality thing. The SMs I met were very friendly, polite, and absolutely the most squared away enlisted personnel I ever met. Their duties depended on the General/Admiral they worked for and the size of the Flag Officer's personal staff. They often helped the Flag Officer's executive officer or officer aides plan social events. I met a couple that prepared meals. All helped the Flag Officers in their travel requirements. Packing bags, carrying bags. Making sure the Flag Officer had the needed uniforms and correct uniform items. They coordinated visits with the staffs of Flag Officers and commanders at locations the Flag Officer would visit. Some also provided close-in security for the Flag Officer. They may have been armed. They worked with security at sites the Flag Officer visited. SSG (Join to see) prepare to face a variety of challenges and opportunities. Keep notes. This will be a very interesting assignment.

Get really familiar with party planning, putting uniforms together, shining shoes, ironing, putting ribbon racks together, cooking, cleaning, etc...

The Train-up will align you with the basics, A 'Man-Servant Course' would be a benefit. ;>D
