No experience with McNair only Commanche II. One thing I noticed on Fort Hood compared to other posts is their slow progress with tearing down the old homes and building new ones. However, they have started on one side of post but not everywhere. Fort Stewart, Benning, amd Knox started their progression almost 10yrs ago don't know whats taking Hood so long. There are no basements in the housing on Hood. As far as housing areas, that will depend on your neighbors. You'll meet some good ones, strange ones, and bad ones. You're experience will depend what you make of it. If you hang around drama you will get yourself involved in too.

When I was there it was a fine housing Village. The Commanding General in fact lived there himself.

I havent lived on post but have several buddies that live on post. One of my buddies has a basement; it all depends on which area you get. You should be able to look online at the houses they have
