Does anyone have recommendations for a tutoring company to prepare for PMP (Project Management Professional) exam?

I am considering spending money as part of formal studying before taking PMP exam at end of year. Curious if anyone has had particularly good or bad experiences with any companies that specialize in PMP "boot camps"...

I used the onward to opportunity program to get mine. They not only provided the training but they also paid for my first test. The whole program was no cost to me and I was able to pass on my first try (most take 2 or 3 to pass the PMP). I would try that first before spending any money.

I combined the online Kaplan course with the PMI in person class and had no issues passing the exam.

The best information is on the PMI web page. I know several folks who were successful. The only internationally recognized cert. is through them. Based on you Branch you should be able to get the organization to foot the bill for the training and exam.

There is also a DOD specific Cert. that is used by most Federal agencies, but does not Cary the same weight on the outside. Thank you for your service.

I would go with the PMI prep courses as they are the proponent for the test.

I bought the PMI books available on the website, studied and took practice tests, and passed on the first go. The mistake many make is they fail to create a mental model of the information they are reading. Understanding how a Charter fits into the project initiation flow, and such, for example, becomes critical to building UNDERSTANDING of standard best-practice project management methods and approaches. You can NOT try to just memorize all the content, or you will fail. You must read to understand.

I used my 9-11 education benefit and went with Villanova University online program. Villanova is excellent and an industry standard for project management.

Did everything while a contractor in Afghanistan and took the PMP exam in Dubai.
